The project includes the historic Devlin’s Reward mine, where underground workings extended to approximately 30m below surface before reaching the water table. A small open pit was later developed over the historic workings; however, no reliable production records are available.
Historical exploration completed by Finders Gold NL during the 1990s included RAB, RC and diamond drilling programs, which successfully intersected significant gold mineralisation. Golden Horse Minerals subsequently completed validation drilling, confirming the tenor and continuity of historical results while identifying additional shallow, high-grade mineralised zones.
Notable drilling results include:
- GHRC0009: 11m @ 3.36g/t Au from 8m (including 1m @ 20.1g/t Au)
- GHRC0004: 8m @ 4.84g/t Au from 26m (including 1m @ 25.9g/t Au)
- GHRC0003: 10m @ 2.14g/t Au from 52m
- GHRC0011: 4m @ 8.35g/t Au from 86m (including 1m @ 25.8g/t Au)
Significant historical intersections include:
- HDD002: 12m @ 3.49g/t Au from 24m
- DVRC011: 11m @ 2.50g/t Au from 19m
- HDC017: 7m @ 4.10g/t Au from 46m
The Hakes Find area contains numerous historic workings, with battery records documenting production of 1,572 tonnes at an average grade of 9.5g/t Au.
Recent geological interpretation indicates that gold mineralisation is associated with multiple parallel lodes and structural corridors that remain open along strike and at depth. The project forms part of Golden Horse’s broader strategy to identify and define near-surface, high-grade gold resources across the Southern Zone.
Future exploration programs will focus on extending known mineralisation, testing additional targets generated from geological modelling and geophysical interpretation, and evaluating the project’s potential to contribute to future resource growth within the Southern Cross Gold Project.
